Local history
Mullica Hill sits within Harrison Township, first settled in the early 1700s by Swedish, Finnish, and Quaker farming families, with the township formally established in 1844. After the Civil War, the village grew into one of South Jersey's most productive agricultural centers, and its Main Street filled in with the Victorian homes and public buildings that still define the town today. That well-preserved stretch of architecture earned the entire village a spot on the National and New Jersey Registers of Historic Places in 1991, and it's since become one of the region's best-known antiques and crafts destinations.
